Due to popular demand our current exhibition, Gestures and Friend/Foe by Adrian Jeans, has been extended for a week. It will now end on Sunday 8th October.

Gesture and Friend/Foe

Date: 25th August to 8th October, 2017
Property: 5 Bold Place, Liverpool, L1 9DN
Artist: Adrian Jeans
Landlord: Frensons
Gestures (large window) and Friend/Foe (small window) are made using sculptures of the artist’s hand and explore the nature of hand gestures. In Gestures Adrian arranges hands with different positions so that they start interacting with each other and a visual conversation emerges. Gestures was influenced by sign language and by the more elusive hand gestures that we spontaneously and subconsciously perform much of the time.
Friend/Foe looks at how the meaning of a hand gesture can subtly change or invert completely depending on its context: whether that be cultural, psychological or physical. Friend/Foe continually rotates a single hand so that it playfully, but insistently, alternates between declarations of love and hate.

A Nice Head

Date: 2013
Property: Romer Road, Liverpool, L6 6DJ
Artist: Adrian Jeans
Landlord: Private Home
A Nice Head is a portrait of the artist’s neighbour. Using the neighbour’s often surprisingly friendly greeting “alright dickhead!” and newspaper protocol, Adrian riffs upon the idea of portraits as both a portrayal of a person’s character (he’s a ‘dick’ head) and an inanimate art object (that’s a ‘nice’ sculpture of a head).
